Beckham Injury Update

Real Madrid have confirmed that David Beckham will miss around a month of action after injuring a ligament in his right knee. He sustained the injury in Sunday's 1-1 tie with Getafe after running into the advertising hoardings behind the goal. Though he initially stayed in the game, Beckham had to be substituted off just five minutes later, visibly in pain.

He underwent further testing on Monday to determine the extent of his injury. According to the team's website, "[Beckham] has suffered a grade II sprain to the internal lateral ligament of the right knee."

This comes as a real blow to Beckham's hopes to get back into the England squad. He will also likely miss the next three Primera Liga games for RM and a charity game against Manchester United, set for March 13th. Beckham has not plyaed for England since they were knocked out of the World Cup by Portugal in the World Cup.

The Los Angeles Galaxy made an official statement on the injury, with general manager Alexi Lalas telling the media, "We do not expect this injury to affect [Beckham's] arrival in Los Angeles or his debut with the Galaxy." Beckham is expected to make his Galaxy debut in August.
