Keeper Switch in RSL?

Real Salt Lake coach John Ellinger is pondering putting rookie 'keeper Chris Seitz in net over Nick Rimando after a 4-0 beatdown at the hands of Chivas USA on Saturday night. Rimando has given up a total of six goals through RSL's first three games, but looked particularly awful at times in their last game. He positioned himself too far off of the near post and about a foot behind the line when attempting to make a save on Ante Razov's 100th goal, for instance.

Unfortunately for RSL, Seitz will be leaving in June to compete at the U-20 World Cup in Canada. "You hate the thought if (Seitz) were to win that position, and boom, he's gone for three or four games," Ellinger told Deseret News. "But if that's what we need to do, that's what we need to do."

Ellinger could find himself on the hot seat sooner rather than later and really needs to get some results from this team in his third year. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Seitz in net within two weeks if Rimando's struggles continue.

You're right on. RSL does need to make a change in that position, even if it is for only a couple games. It will at least send Rimando a message that he needs to raise the bar. Also, don't forget that RSL was in talks with Kasey Keller a few years ago, and Keller has made it clear that he would like to come to MLS. RSL may not want to spend that much, but if they think it will turn their season around... you just never know.
