Beckham Is Back

England coach Steve McClaren has included David Beckham on the 26-man roster for an upcoming friendly against Brazil and a Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia. Beckham has not been a part of McClaren's side for the past nine games - since England's exit from the 2006 World Cup, but the coach has been left with little other choice after England has failed to impress in recent matches and Beckham has been nothing less than sensational for Real Madrid.
Beckham's great form hasn't been lost on McClaren: "Since Christmas, his form has been very good. I think he can help us win in Estonia and that's why I picked him... we need experience and David certainly provides that. He is in very, very good form. The team needs that."

Still, McClaren may choose to go with Aaron Lennon over Beckham at the right-wing position. Lennon has a twisted knee, but was included in the roster. If he is fit to go, Beckham may end up watching the games from the sidelines.

McClaren also made sure there would be no controversy surrounding the captaincy of the squad. Beckham has been captain of the team for 57 of his 94 apperances for the squad, but won't be getting the armband this time. That is John Terry's for sure, he told reporters.

England will meet Brazil in a friendly on June 1st and will play Estonia in a Euro 2008 qualifier on June 6th.
