Copa Roster Announced, LD Absent

The United States' roster for Copa America has been announced, and it is heavy with youth and MLS players - 15 of the 22 selected currently suit up for Major League Soccer teams.

The average age of the entire roster is 24.27 years old or 23.66 if you exclude grandpa Kasey Keller.

Ten of the 13 Major League Soccer teams have at least one player on the roster - only L.A., RSL, and NYRB aren't sending a representative.

After weeks of back-and-forth debate over whether Landon Donovan would be included on the roster, Bob Bradley decided to leave him off.

Here's the roster.

Goalkeepers:
Brad Guzan (Chivas USA)
Kasey Keller

Defenders:
Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA)
Bobby Boswell (D.C. United)
Danny Califf
Jimmy Conrad (KC Wizards)
Jay DeMerit
Drew Moor (FC Dallas)
Heath Pearce
Marvell Wynne (Toronto FC)

Midfielders:
Kyle Beckerman (Colorado Rapids)
Ricardo Clark (Houston Dynamo)
Benny Feilhaber
Eddie Gaven (Columbus Crew)
Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA)
Justin Mapp (Chicago Fire)
Lee Nguyen
Ben Olsen (D.C. United)

Forwards:
Charlie Davies
Herculez Gomez (Colorado Rapids)
Eddie Johnson (KC Wizards)
Taylor Twellman (NE Revolution)

It's a very young squad, but it is not impossible for this team to advance in the tournament. Still, the first game against Argentina on June 28th may get ugly. The U.S. other first round opponents are Paraguay (July 2nd), and Colombia (July 5th).
