Chivas Lands Eskandarian

Real Salt Lake has agreed to trade forward Alecko Eskandarian to Chivas USA in exchange for a major allocation ($125,000 in salary cap space), according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Esky joined RSL just seven months ago as part of the trade that sent Jeff Cunningham to Toronto FC. His time in Utah was largely unproductive, posting only a single goal and three assists in 17 games for Salt Lake in 2007. Last month, Eskandarian had been trialling with Belgian club Standard Liege - for whom fellow American Oguchi Onyewu currently plays - but the 25-year-old player of Armenian descent opted to sign a new contract with MLS instead.

Selected first overall in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, Eskandarian scored 24 times over four seasons with D.C. United before being traded to Toronto FC before the start of the 2007 season. He only played six games under Mo Johnston before getting moved to RSL, scoring once. Chivas USA will become his fourth team in just over a year.

A two-time All-Star ('04, '06), Eskandarian has scored 26 goals and added 11 assists in 111 career games.
